WHEREAS the Ontario Government is currently in the process of reviewing and updating the long overdue legislation concerning Integrity Commissioners. We would ask the Ministry for their patience and assistance in reviewing the findings of the current Integrity Commissioners investigation into councilor Carr; AND WHEREAS Minister Calandra himself confirmed last month at the AMO conference that changes in this legislation are needed and vital, we would like him to hear our concerns; AND WHEREAS the current system is unfair as it prioritizes confidentially over all else, including judicial fairness and the right to defend yourself against your accusers; NOW THEREFORE prior to this council making this IC report public, we would like to investigate further options for unbiased review; FURTHER THAT Minister Calandra and the Ombudsman's Office offer options to council such as appointing a special Ombudsman to investigate, as the province did in Rideau Lakes 2016, or for council to investigate asking for a judicial review to be completed.
