Municipal Heritage Advisory Committee

Be it resolved that the Municipal Heritage Advisory Committee (MHAC) adopt the agenda as presented.

WHEREAS the Municipal Heritage Advisory Committee acknowledges the delegation of Sarah Wanless regarding an a Heritage Alteration Permit for her property located at 8 King St. in Delta; AND WHEREAS a Heritage Alteration Permit is required to undertake alterations to a property designated under the Ontario Heritage Act; AND WHEREAS the owner of 8 King St. in Delta (Philo Hicock House) has applied for a Heritage Alteration Permit for the construction of a covered porch addition on the rear elevation of the house; AND WHEREAS the Municipal Heritage Advisory Committee (MHAC) has reviewed the proposed plans and determined they do not negatively impact the protected heritage features; NOW THEREFORE the Municipal Heritage Advisory Committee recommends that Council provide consent for the Heritage Alteration Permit to be issued for the rear addition, in keeping with the heritage attributes defined in Designation By-Law 1984-591 specifically the original rubblestone, subject to the applicant obtaining a standard building permit prior to construction.

Be it resolved that the Rideau Lakes Municipal Heritage Advisory Committee (MHAC) approves and adopts the minutes of the MHAC meeting held on July 16, 2026.

Be it resolved that the Municipal Heritage Advisory Committee direct staff to propose an internal process for reporting on requests regarding designated heritage properties; and FURTHER that insurance options for heritage properties be investigated for information.
