WHEREAS the Mayor has vetoed Motion PW Rec 154-2025, citing concerns it “may divert attention from initiatives that directly support the provincial housing mandate”; AND WHEREAS the Mayor previously directed two divergent infrastructure projects to proceed simultaneously, raising concerns about premature and inefficient use of resources; THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT: Staff provide Council with a detailed list of current municipal initiatives and priorities, including timelines and connections to the provincial housing mandate; The list be presented at the next Council meeting and made public; Staff explain how and when Council will evaluate infrastructure that supports housing before selecting any office site, including: Road access and connectivity; Transit corridors; Proximity to growth areas or development nodes; The mayor explains why “resource allocation and strategic focus” was not raised when he advanced two projects simultaneously, but is now cited as justification for veto, and staff provide Council with a list of priorities for the balance of 2025 and 2026; All explanations and lists be provided in writing, presented to Council, and entered into the public record to ensure transparency and accountability.
